*Want to establish a caring clown or hospital creative ministry?

FRMC Charlie's Chaplains' Skool '07 "Big Top Training" is a packed-to-the-max day of fellowship, learning and fun. Skool '07 will indeed be a "3-Ring Circus," offering simultaneous multi-level teaching on varied Christian creative ministry arts.

This year’s creative ministry training program features sessions on venues to be explored by focusing on entertaining and many aspects of the art of clowning, presented for all levels of experience. Skool ’07 offers multiple-level classes taught simultaneously by professional instructors and experienced community volunteers who love to share their passion.

Charlie’s Chaplains’ Skool ‘07 class schedule includes: Beginner Clown Makeup Lab, Dress for Less, Balloon Sculpting, Just Clownin’ Around, Comedy, Improv, Skits ‘n Schticks, Storytelling and Physical Theatre: Physical Comedy, Theatrical Expression, Movement and Mime, and the Power of a Joyful Heart.

Charlie’s Chaplains’ Skool sessions are open to the public and others in the industry, to encourage more hospital clown groups and creative ministries. For the first time in their 16-year history, FRMC Charlie’s Chaplains will be offering a Friday evening "Pre-Skool" session on "Establishing a Hospital Clown or Creative Ministry." This 'nuts and bolts'-type session will be held at First United Methodist Church, 6-9PM. Resource materials are included. Registration for this session is available for an additional charge and only available with Skool ’07 full registration. An official headquarters hotel has been established to accommodate out-of-town attendees.

Special Two-or-More Ministry Training and local mission opportunities are offered to area churches and other ministries. Interested groups are invited to enroll members in Charlie’s Chaplains’ Skool, receiving additional training offered and adopting FRMC monthly visitations as a shared local missions focus for one calendar year, under the tutelage and coordination of the resident hospital creative ministry.

The fee for this day-long intensive training session is $45. Student prices are offered. Limited scholarships are available to seniors ages 70+. Program fee includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day on the premises. Beginner Skool students should bring clown makeup. A clown makeup palette may be pre-ordered for the make up lab.

This clown ministry began their funny business in 1991, patrolling the hallways of FRMC cheering the patients and visitors, as well as clowning around with the staff each month. Charlie’s Chaplains’ got its start with the guidance of Chaplain Robert Ford, pastors Dana McKim and Danny Leonard, and has been tickling funny bones ever since. FRMC Charlie’s Chaplains was honored to be featured January, 2007.

"Some people fantasize about ditching their jobs and running away to join the circus.

But Russian-born Guennadi Tregoub and wife Irma, long dreamed of running away from the circus to settle down."
